IRC

The CompSoc IRC network is the hub of the society, where everyone goes to chat and communicate.

(The server also runs on ports 6668 and 6669, if you can't connect on the default port.)

The official society channel is #compsoc, and there are other peripheral channels, such as #wuglug for the GNU/Linux User Group, and #tech for the techteam.

If you just want to try irc, you can do so online .

You don't have to be a member to come and talk to us; to connect, you will need an IRC client. Here are a few:

IRC bot

Some enterprising members of the society have written an IRC bot, called BadgerBOT. It hangs out in most official society channels.

One of BadgerBOT's functions is to store memorable quotes - you can query the current quotes database online.

Bitlbee

Bitlbee is an IRC -> MSN gateway, allowing you to login to MSN Messenger (or other IM networks) using your IRC client.

Current Rules

In general, something that an operator thinks is wrong will be kicked or banned for. Kicks are warnings and you can rejoin immediately after. Bans are for repeated offences.

If you behave well expect to be treated well.
